How to Wash a Human Hair Wig

by Shuang&Ronashow 15 Jun 2024

Maintaining the beauty and longevity of your human hair wig requires proper care and regular washing. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to wash your wig, ensuring it stays in pristine condition.

Step 1: Prepare the Necessary Items

A wide-toothed comb or wig brush
A sink or basin filled with cool or lukewarm water
A wig shampoo specifically designed for human hair
A wig stand or towel to dry the wig
A conditioner (optional)

Step 2: Brush Out the Wig

Before washing, gently brush out the wig using a wide-toothed comb or wig brush. This will help remove any tangles or knots and prepare the wig for cleaning.

Step 3: Submerge the Wig

Carefully lower the wig into the sink or basin filled with cool or lukewarm water. Let the wig soak for a few minutes to loosen any dirt or oils.

Step 4: Apply Wig Shampoo

Pour a small amount of wig shampoo into your palm and gently rub your hands together to create a lather. Gently apply the lather to the wig, starting from the base and working your way up. Avoid scrubbing or pulling the hair strands harshly.

Step 5: Rinse Thoroughly

Once you've applied the shampoo, rinse the wig thoroughly under running water until all the shampoo is removed. Be sure to rinse the wig thoroughly to avoid any residue that could damage the hair.

Step 6: Apply Conditioner (Optional)

If desired, you can apply a small amount of wig conditioner to the wig. Apply it the same way you applied the shampoo, starting from the base and working your way up. Rinse thoroughly again to remove all traces of conditioner.

Step 7: Drain Excess Water

Gently squeeze the wig to remove excess water. Do not twist or wring the wig, as this can damage the hair strands.

Step 8: Dry the Wig

Place the wig on a wig stand or towel to air-dry. Avoid using heat to dry the wig, as this can damage the hair. Allow the wig to dry naturally.

Step 9: Style and Wear

Once the wig is completely dry, you can style it as desired and wear it with confidence. Remember to brush out the wig regularly and wash it every 4-6 weeks to keep it looking its best.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your human hair wig remains beautiful and lasts for many wears.
